Associate Biologist


We have an immediate opening for an Associate Biologist with at least four years of professional experience in preparing regulatory agency permit applications, wildlife/conservation biology, natural resource planning, and/or restoration ecology to join our thriving offices. Opening office locations soon in San Mateo and Sonoma counties.

What You’ll Do :

  • Work on an exciting portfolio of high-profile transportation projects located throughout California
  • Perform surveys for sensitive plant and animal species
  • Document survey results in Biological Resources Studies
  • Perform impacts and effects analysis on biological resources
  • Conduct Wetlands and Waters of the U.S. jurisdictional delineation and reports
  • Assist with the planning, design, and monitoring of ecological restoration sites
  • Initiate Section 7 Consultation under the Federal Endangered Species Act
  • Develop permit applications for resources agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, California Coastal Commission, and San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission

What You Need to Have :

  • Proficient technical writing skills and document preparation experience
  • Experience with preparing resource agency permit applications
  • Ability to read construction plans
  • Previous resource agency approval for monitoring/handling listed species
  • Experience delineating wetlands and waters according to federal and state definitions
  • Experience conducting plant and wildlife surveys (familiarity with California flora and fauna preferred)
  • Demonstrated GIS experience, including preparing figures and spatial analysis
  • Prior experience working with local agencies (Caltrans experience preferred)

Your Professional Profile :

  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in biology, biological sciences, environmental sciences/studies, or similar field
  • You have over 4 years of experience (7+ years preferred) in wildlife/conservation biology, natural resource planning, and/or restoration ecology
