The National Parks Board (NParks) engages with regional and international bodies to deal with forest-related climate change issues. NParks also engages with these bodies to help set the biodiversity policy agenda and supports the implementation at the national level. We are seeking to strengthen our capacity in the area of carbon accounting and reporting, policy analysis, advocacy and implementation of key environmental and biodiversity policy issues.

The successful applicant is expected to:

  • Identify, collect and analyse relevant data to determine greenhouse gas estimates from Singapore’s land use and vegetation in particular for the purpose of producing the Biennial Update Report under the obligation to UNFCCC
  • Use GIS software to process high-resolution satellite imagery and generate land-use maps in accordance to prescribed guidelines for international reporting
  • Compile datasets pertaining to carbon accounting and maintain an inventory and database of historical land-use maps of Singapore
  • Refine and adapt new technologies to build on and improve existing workflows
  • Generate greenhouse gas emissions projections for Singapore’s land use and vegetation by using predictive modelling/analytics, where relevant
  • Provide policy and technical support to the work of the International Biodiversity Conservation Division as well as other Divisions within the organisation, particularly in the area of biodiversity and climate change
  • Assist with any other relevant and essential duties as assigned by supervisor


  • Degree in Biological and Ecological Sciences, Geography, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Life Sciences, or related discipline with a strong background in GIS
  • Post-graduate qualification in related discipline will be preferred
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in using statistical tools and GIS software for analyses
  • Some experience in predictive modelling/analytics will be an advantage
  • An organized, resourceful team player with good presentation and communication skills as well as ability to work independently
  • Prepared for overseas travel if required during the course of work
