A day in our collaborative office might include . . .

  • Writing a story about an exciting project that demonstrates the impact of one of Verra’s standards.
  • Posting that story on our social media channels with a compelling hook and asking relevant partners if they would help amplify the reach of the story.
  • Researching and compiling data, key facts, and information that helps us develop effective messages we can deliver to target audiences and the media.
  • Working with a diverse group of internal and external partners to make media-rich content, including short videos, podcasts, graphics, or visual stories that explain and tell the story of our impact.
  • Tracking media coverage for Verra’s focus areas.

Specific functions you will be responsible for . . .

  • Helping plan and implement communications activities that advance our organizational and strategic goals.

  • Producing compelling content about Verra’s work and our impact and ensuring that content reaches its intended audiences.

  • Developing an array of creative and high-impact communications products, including short videos, infographics, fact sheets, web pages, presentations, and conference materials.

  • Strategically positioning Verra as a thought and action leader on our social media channels by developing a consistent and influential voice and regularly sharing high-value content from Verra and our partners.

  • Posting to our website, helping to manage our content, and working with the team to improve its design.

  • Helping manage stakeholder email lists and disseminate information through various communication formats, including e-newsletters and internal email updates.

  • Helping to organize, curate, and catalogue our communications assets (photos, b-roll, testimonials, talking points) while identifying gaps in our collection and deploying assets so they can be used effectively at relevant moments.

  • Supporting additional communications and market development activities in collaboration with other Verra teams and staff members, such as preparing for and organizing events.

You bring with you . . .

  • At the Program Officer level, at least 1-2 years of experience working in communications.
  • A love of storytelling and influencing knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and policy through communications.

  • Experience writing in a variety of styles and with attention to detail.

  • A curiosity and willingness to experiment and then evaluate the impact of our content, learning what kinds of content help Verra achieve our goals and grow our audience.

  • An interest in sustainability, carbon markets, addressing climate change, and how social and economic benefits are generated for people where projects take place.

  • While not required, experience with video/audio production and editing, graphic design, photo-editing, and corresponding software such as Adobe Creative Suite is highly desired. We have a strong interest in developing more media-rich content such as videos and podcasts.

  • While not required, experience with content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal is also a plus.

  • While not required, fluency in a second language is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and interest in knowledge management.

  • An interest in how the media covers sustainability, environmental, and climate topics and how narratives emerge and change.

  • A drive to succeed and go above and beyond.

  • A great attitude, flexibility, and team-player mentality.

Compensation at Verra

To help us attract and retain top talent, we pay employees competitively to the market. In return, we expect each employee to, at a minimum:

For this position, the salary range is US $52,253 - $58,071 (Program Officer) and US $40,782 - $46,666 (Program Associate), depending on experience.

We will recognize employees who go beyond expected performance with salary increases and/or promotions, but the bar for earning those rewards is high.

Salary is one component of Verra’s total compensation package, which also includes:

  • Health, vision and dental care, and life insurance;

  • Verra contributions as required by national labor laws in countries where staff are located;
