NEIWPCC is seeking a Source Water Protection Intern to assist on multiple tasks related to the protection of drinking water sources in the Northeast during the summer of 2022.
The SWP Intern will primarily focus on assisting the SWP Environmental Analyst (EA) with updating SWP reference materials. This will involve working with federal, state, and local SWP professionals remotely and in-person to research, write, and update SWP best practices guidance used by SWP professionals in the Northeast. Other tasks related to NEIWPCC SWP efforts or in support of the WRP division may be assigned. The Intern should expect to work up 30 hours per week, up to four days a week; some scheduling flexibility is possible for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be well organized, have excellent communication skills, experience speaking with the public and environmental agency professionals, demonstrated researching and writing skills, and the ability to think and collaborate with a broad interdisciplinary approach in regard to environmental resource protection and management. Candidates will be comfortable with public speaking and with meeting facilitation. Highly motivated individuals with familiarity with writing, hydrology or earth systems sciences, and meeting facilitation on collaborative projects are encouraged to apply.
