Environmental Analyst – Source Water Protection (Albany, NY)

****NEIWPCC and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) are seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to provide technical assistance and program support for implementing the Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2).

The primary goal of Source Water Protection in New York State is to develop and implement source water protection measures for public water systems throughout the state. The incumbent will be expected to provide guidance, leadership, and input on use of the program’s framework and work towards its improvement. The successful candidate will assist with managing the consultant contract, developing and updating source water program guidance, program outreach and communication, and assisting communities with developing and implementing their source water protection plans. The incumbent will also assist with internal DWSP2 coordination to ensure the Department’s permitting and other processes include source water protection components. Infrequent overnight travel may be necessary. The position is located in Albany, NY.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in environmental sciences, geology, hydrology, or related field preferred. Preferred experiences and competencies include: excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer proficiency in database and spreadsheet development and maintenance, including geographic information systems; ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, all while staying organized and maintaining accurate records.
