Description
NEIWPCC is seeking an Environmental Analyst to support the implementation of the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act in Rhode Island, which assists local and tribal educational agencies with voluntary testing for lead contamination in drinking water at schools and child care facilities.
What You’ll Do
As a NEIWPCC Environmental Analyst, you will manage and oversee the day-to-day objectives of the Lead Testing in School and Child Care Program. You will develop, produce, and implement policies and guidance for Rhode Island’s WIIN Act grant activities; develop needed contracts to fulfill the objectives of the grant; manage contract deliverables and respond to inquiries from grant partners; develop a sampling protocol with grant partners; develop communication plans in accordance with policies; track outputs; and determine effectiveness of training, outreach and communication tools.
What You Bring / Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality. Ideally the candidate will have a degree in environmental science, chemistry, public health or related field. Direct experience managing or working on large research projects that involve sampling/testing at multiple site locations and experience working collaboratively with various types of stakeholders is desired. Knowledge of drinking water regulations and health effects related to Lead in drinking water is preferred. Applicants with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent.
Logistics
This full-time NEIWPCC position will work 7.5 hours per day Monday to Friday and is based in the Rhode Island Department of Health office located in Providence, RI. Evening and weekend work may be required. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting and will require travel, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation are required. After six months of employment, this position may be eligible for a partial telework schedule for office-based duties, subject to approval and determined by program and office needs. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.

Salary
Anticipated annual salary range is $50,000 to $72,000.
