The ICCT seeks a highly motivated and committed Hydrogen Fellow who will contribute their energy and creativity towards research that will play a critical role in the deployment of clean hydrogen and the decarbonization of the transport sector. This position will focus particularly on policies and standards of hydrogen production and its application in decarbonizing different sectors.

To be successful in our environment, you must be intellectually curious, self- directed, and able to work with people from across the globe. The position is best suited to someone with inventiveness, creativity, resourcefulness, curiosity and strong time management skills. The ideal candidate will hold a graduate degree with previous research experience in environment, transportation or energy topics, excellent quantitative and writing skills, and demonstrated passion for solving our most pressing global environmental and climate change challenges.

You Will:

  • Assess hydrogen policies in different countries, especially Brazil
  • Assess hydrogen standards with a focus on greenhouse gas emissions
  • Collect and analyze data on hydrogen costs and life-cycle GHG emissions
  • Review and summarize technical and scientific literature
  • Assist in writing blogs, briefing papers, memos, or working papers to communicate research findings and the policy implications
  • Collaborate with ICCT staff on emerging projects based on need and perform other duties as assigned
  • Prepare presentations and present findings

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred) combined with experience in energy, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, or a related technical field
  • Demonstrated research, education, or work experience related to hydrogen, energy, greenhouse gas emissions, transportation, climate change, or public policy
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal. Reading and writing proficiency in Portuguese is ideal
  • Excellent and demonstrated quantitative, analytical, and research skills
  • Ability to clearly explain research results and their implications to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills with Excel
  • Experience preparing and giving public presentations in English

Our Benefits

This is a 12-month, full-time position, based in our Washington, D.C. or San Francisco, CA, office. The hourly range is $20-32 (DC) or $22-35 (SF) based upon education level and experience. We offer an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, substantial paid vacation, retirement contribution with generous 7% employer contribution, transportation subsidies, and other benefits.
