BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: Maine Conservation Corps (MCC) seeks an experienced conservation and management professional to oversee the MCC Field Team. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with MCC staff to manage a statewide AmeriCorps program. The Field Team Program Manager will develop, cultivate, and maintain partnerships with natural resource managing agencies, including federal, state, municipal, and nonprofit entities to accomplish up to 180 weeks of recreational trail and habitat restoration projects annually. The Program Manager will oversee the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of approximately 70 AmeriCorps members each year to engage in stewardship projects. Oversight of the MCC Field Team also includes supervision of seasonal support positions; coordination of operational logistics, such as acquisition and maintenance of transportation, housing, equipment, uniforms, supplies, food, etc.; developing and enforcing rules and standards; tracking, monitoring, and analyzing programmatic outcomes; understanding and implementing federal and state policies; drafting and tracking cooperative agreements with partners; and developing and executing a variety of marketing and promotional strategies. The position includes a high level of responsibility within the MCC program and depends upon the capability of working independently. Statewide travel to Maine’s most treasured places is required. Travel averages one day per week.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A four (4) year combination of education and/or experience in organizing, supervising, and/or coordinating a volunteer program.
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with a valid driver’s license, experience in youth conservation corps management, AmeriCorps program administration, conservation activities, specifically hands-on technical trail construction and maintenance projects, as well as sustainable recreational trail design and planning.
